Kōnen Sakamoto (1800-1853) included 30 woodblock printed pictures of lilies in a picture album entitled Yuri Fu (Lily Album). It was published sometime in the early 1800s.Click on a picture to enlarge it. Kōnen drew his picture subjects accurately but some are difficult to identify because the Japanese name he gave is no longer used today. In addition, some of these lilies are likely hybrids created by lily breeders.
